FFI Southern Council Fly Fishing Tournament

Past annual Southern Council events have drawn 650 to 1,000 participants from all over the US and overseas. This year's event is a change from past year's events. It is one offering an opportunity to fly fish the White River with a partner.

This is a competition and will be rewarded with prize money or other items.

This is our main fund raising event for the Southern Council of the Fly Fishers International (FFI) for 2019.

Event Details

The First Annual Fly Fishers International Southern Council Fly Fishing Tournament will be held October 4th and 5th on the Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters of Arkansas' White River. This will be a "catch and release" tournament with two "man" teams. The first place team will receive a cash prize of 30% of the tournament entry fees.

Fishing will be done from wade fishing or boats: White River Jon boats, drift boats, or any boat capable of operating on the tailwaters of Bull Shoals or Norfork Lakes. Each team may submit up to four time tagged and geo tagged photos of a trout laying on the official tournament measuring device. First place will go to the team with the greatest length of trout caught, as determined by the four pictures.

Each team will consist of two fisherman. However, a third individual may accompany them to assit in handling the boat and locating fish. Entry fee per team is $100 (pre-registered). If you are not pre-registered the entry fee is $150 per team.

Final registration for the tournament will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 in the Trout Room of The Sheid on the campus of Arkansas State University - Mountain Home. There will be an information and coordination meeting followed by the distribution of the measuring devices. A party for the contestants will be held Friday evening.

The tournament will kickoff at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 and end at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019. There will be an awards banquet Saturday evening.

IMPORTANT: It is imperative that each team send Pat Smith a separate email with contact information for each team member and team name, if they choose to create one.

About FFISOC

Pat Smith,

Managing Director

Fly Fishers International — Southern Council represents flyfishing clubs located in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee; as well as individuals who are not members of local clubs. We are affiliated with the Fly Fishers International (formerly known as International Federation of Fly Fishers, Inc.), based in Livingston, Montana. The FFI is an international federation of individuals and clubs throughout the United States and the world. Our motto is "conserving, restoring, educating through flyfishing". We support all species of fish in all waters.

Our organization provides an opportunity to meet fellow flyfishers (some of the best people in the world), to teach others about our sport, to learn from others about our sport, and most importantly to channel our efforts into conservation. Our strongest conservation focus is on clean water and fisheries habitat. The FFI supports many who are interested in the health of our waterways and the fish that inhabit them. If you have an education or conservation project, the FFI may be able to help you. Even if you don't have a personal goal along these lines, when you join the FFI, you help others achieve their goals. One of those "others" might end up championing your home waters. Many rivers, streams, and lakes are in better shape because of the FFI. Please help by joining. Go to the FFI website, where you can apply for membership on-line.
